Two thousand six hundred years ago, an army marched east to take a state called Zheng. In a small town on that road, a merchant came the other way with twelve oxen and rolls of tanned hide. He walked up to the army and gave it everything, saying his ruler had heard they were passing. The town was never the target. The town was the road.

I'm Yoko. I was born in Chengdu, Sichuan — the old Kingdom of Shu from Romance of the Three Kingdoms — and these days I live in Tokyo.
